ZPEC Iraq Branch Receives Letter of Commendation from Chinese Iraq Embassy

2023-12-04

On the morning of November 30, 2023, the first offline year-end summary meeting of the Consular Assistance Volunteers of the Chinese Embassy in Iraq was successfully held. A Letter of Commendation was issued to ZPEC Iraq Branch, praising company employee Lin Peng for his role as a Consular Assistance Volunteer. It was noted that he actively assisted the Embassy in carrying out consular protection work and worked hard to assist the Embassy in protecting the safety and legitimate rights and interests of Chinese citizens and Chinese-funded enterprises in Iraq. He was highly appreciated by everyone.

At the meeting, Xu Haifeng, the Consular Counselor of the Embassy, delivered a speech. Volunteer representatives from seven companies including CNPC, CNOOC, ZPEC, Shanghai Electric, and businessmen from the Diamond Hotel and other businesses attended the meeting. Xu Haifeng expressed his gratitude to the Consuls for assisting the volunteers in their hard work in 2023 and said that volunteering is not only an honor, but also a responsibility. He hoped that all volunteers would continue their efforts and make greater achievements in their work in 2024.

ZPEC Iraq Branch is the first member unit of the Iraqi Embassy to establish consular assistance volunteers. ZPEC volunteer Lin Peng has been actively completing various tasks since joining. Consular protection is not small matter. A deep late night in May this year, Lin Peng suddenly received an investigation notice from the Consular Department of the Embassy. A Chinese national was attacked in the Rumaila Oilfield. He responded immediately, verified the personnel situation with Chinese companies and units, and then immediately reported the verification results to the Embassy.

In daily work, in order to solve the work problems encountered by employees abroad, he helped many employees communicate with the Embassy to change their passports and issue the required certification letters. In addition, if there was an emergency in the oil areas, as a volunteer, he reported the information to the Embassy immediately and sought help. The Embassy also quickly coordinated and intervened to protect the lives and safety of Chinese companies and employees.

Lin Peng said that, as a volunteer of ZPEC, he would continue to study various policies seriously on behalf of the company in 2024 and be a model individual for consular protection of the company. He would respond quickly and actively when encountering emergencies and handle various related issues in a timely manner. He pledged to work and live with a positive and enthusiastic attitude, and work with all ZPEC employees to contribute to the motherland’s “Belt and Road” business.
