On the morning of April 7, 2025, Chairman Li Chundi made a special trip to visit the Chinese Consulate General in Basra where he held discussions with Commercial Counselor Xu Chun and others. Counselor Xu Chun spoke highly of ZPEC’s outstanding contributions to the Iraqi market, and hoped that ZPEC would seize the new opportunities of Sino-Iraq energy cooperation under the framework of the "Belt and Road Initiative", operate in compliance, and become more prosperous.

ZPEC Senior Vice President Geng Xianliang, Vice President Zhao Yafei, Iraq Company General Manager Li Xu, and other leaders attended the discussion.

During the talks, Chairman Li Chundi first expressed his gratitude to the Embassy and the Consulate General for their long-term support. He reviewed the development history and business development of ZPEC since entering the Iraqi market, focusing on the industrial chain layout of the four major sectors of "exploration and production, drilling engineering services, equipment manufacturing, and international trade" built by the company, and the next steps of oilfield block development and equipment base construction. He said, “With the support of the Embassy and the Consulate General, ZPEC has established a good cooperative relationship with internationally renowned oil companies in the Iraqi market after more than ten years of deep cultivation, and successfully obtained the development rights of the two major oil and gas blocks MF and EBN in 2024. The company will continue to deepen its localized operations in the next step, and looks forward to the Consulate General's continued guidance in project promotion and policy interpretation.”

Counselor Xu Chun pointed out that ZPEC is an important private enterprise in the Iraqi market and has achieved remarkable results in the field of drilling engineering in recent years. He went on to say that, presently, ZPEC’s businesses of oil field development and equipment manufacturing were progressing steadily and that the embassy and consulate would continue to support ZPEC's development in the local area in terms of policies.
