ZPEC Rig 19 Sets New Drilling Record in Rumaila Oil Field

2025-01-20

Recently, ZPEC Rig 19 achieved a remarkable feat at the Ru-647 Well in Iraq’s Rumaila Oil Field. The integrated team efficiently reached its drilling depth of 2,560 meters in just 13.7 days, which is 7.38 days ahead of the schedule. This set a new record for ZPEC in this project, while accumulating valuable experience for conventional well drilling operation to start 2025.

The well spud-in at 5:00 AM on December 30, 2024, and was completed at 9:55 PM on January 12, 2025. During the operation, the ZPEC Rumaila Project Team, Drilling Crew, and Oil Service Team collaborated closely, optimizing the selection of drill bits and mud motors, and precisely controlled the construction nodes to ensure seamless coordination across all stages. Throughout the directional drilling process, the downhole pressure differential was consistently maintained between 250-300 psi, providing a solid foundation for the smooth and efficient progress of the operation, achieving both high efficiency and precision. Particularly in the third section drilling, despite facing complex conditions with minimal well deviation, the Drilling Team leveraged their deep technical expertise and extensive practical experience to achieve an average sliding drilling footage of 10.21 meters without use of a hydraulic agitator, further highlighting the significant advantages of ZPEC's directional drilling capabilities.

Since venturing overseas in 2012, the leaders and employees of ZPEC Rig 19 have demonstrated exceptional professional competence in equipment maintenance, technical operations, and on-site management, continuously setting new records. (Zhongman Oil Services/Zhang Hongtao)
