At 7:00 p.m. on December 19, 2023, after 37 consecutive hours of intense operation, the XTG350A Top Drive Casing Running System (CDS), independently developed and manufactured by ZPEC Equipment, successfully completed the 6,510-meter casing running operation in Well Yang 101H25-1 of the CNPC Southwest Oil and Gas Field. The successful application of the device in deep well operations has laid a solid foundation for the company’s ability to manufacture high-end equipment and to expand to new product markets.

Well Yang 101H25-1 is located in Xuantan Town, Luxian County, Luzhou City, Sichuan Province. It was contracted by CNPC Southwest Oil and Gas Field and the Tuha XD70201 Drilling Team carried out the drilling operation. The actual drilling depth of the well is 6,510 meters, with a horizontal section of 1,490 meters. ZPEC XTG-350A CDS is used for the casing running operation. In order to ensure that the CDS is foolproof during operations, technical and service personnel from ZPEC Equipment’s Chengdu Base went to the well site in advance to conduct surveys, where they then conducted matching connection tests in advance based upon the on-site equipment conditions.

At 2:30 a.m. on December 18^th, with the cooperation of the well team, ZPEC Equipment technical service personnel, Liu Bo and Zheng Chaojie, quickly hoisted the main body of the equipment and the control box onto the drill floor to debug the connecting pipelines, which started 2 hours later. The casing running operation was carried out and the problems of a stuck drill were successfully solved twice during use. On December 19^th, while the casing was being lowered to 6,200 meters, the downhole resistance continued to increase. The on-site personnel used the CDS to clamp the casing and smoothly rotated and lowered it to the target layer of 6,510 meters.

Jiang Yi, the Chief Technical expert of ZPEC Equipment, introduced the XTG350A Top Drive Casing Running system as a powerful tool for casing running in horizontal wells, extended reach wells, and other major oil and gas fields. It can simultaneously rotate, lift and release casing, circulate mud, and perform other operations according to on-site operation needs. Currently, there are very few domestic companies that can produce this product. During the research and development, the ZPEC Equipment technical team fully considered the user's operational needs during the casing running process. They overcame a number of technical difficulties and successfully put it into production in 2022. This product has the characteristics of reliable operation, novel structure, perfect performance, low temperature resistance, etc., and has broad market prospects.

In the first half of 2023, the product has been tested in drilling operations in shallow wells of 2,200 meters and 2,210 meters in the Huainan Coalbed Methane Project in Anhui Province. All technical indicators are at the leading level in the industry. This time, it was successfully applied in a 6,510-meter deep well.
