On January 8, 2022, fourteen trucks loaded with drilling equipment drove out of the Egyptian Customs in turn, and rushed to the Libyan well site which was more than 2,000 kilometers away. At present, ZPEC Drilling is the only Chinese enterprise drilling wells in the country, officially opening the prelude to the Libyan water well market.

Libya borders the northern Sahara Desert in Egypt and is a typical desert country. There are neither perennial rivers nor lakes in the territory. Rainfall is sparse and water resources are in serious shortage. Especially in recent years, the construction of livelihood water conservancy projects was imminent and the demand for water well drilling had sharply increased.

In order to help Libya reclaim the desert and improve people's livelihood, since 2020, the employees of ZPEC Engineering Marketing Department and ZPEC Egypt Company have overcome many difficulties such as the raging epidemic and unstable situations.  They visited Libya many times for market investigation, to visit customers, and, ultimately, to sign a water well project contract with local Libyan companies in May 2022.  This marked the first step towards opening the Libyan market. The Libyan Cooperation Company expressed their hope that ZPEC would become a benchmark in the Libyan water well drilling industry through its safe, efficient, economical, and environmentally friendly operations.
