On April 7, 2021, Mr. Qinfeng Di, the PHD Supervisor of School of Mechanics and Engineering Science of Shanghai University and Professor II of Shanghai Institute of Applied Mathematics and Mechanics, and his team came to ZPEC headquarters to have technical communications with ZPEC on drill string dynamics. The two sides reached a cooperative intention to jointly build the "Petroleum Engineering Technology R&D Center" and agreed to speed up the promotion and early unveiling, so as to create good conditions for the development of academic research and the transformation of scientific research achievements.

Mr. Yun Zhang, the President of ZPEC, Mr. Xinzhou Lu, the Vice President of ZPEC, Mr. Donghai Zhang, the Chief Engineer of ZPEC, as well as other ZPEC experts attended the meeting. At the beginning of the meeting, Mr.Yun Zhan, gave a brief introduction of ZPEC’s development history, integration advantage, achievements, and development vision. He hoped through the cooperation with Professor Di and his team that they could solve the technical difficulties of drill string dynamics during drilling operation, improve the entire drilling efficiency, and achieve a win-win situation.

Professor Di briefly introduced the Department of Mechanics of Shanghai University, the analysis of the dynamic characteristics of drilling strings in ultra-deep wells, the technology of controlling borehole trajectory, and three-dimensional mechanical analysis of well pipe thread joints. He said the School of Mechanics and Engineering Science of Shanghai University has nearly 40 years of R&D with great achievements and has technical advantages in the drill string dynamics R&D field, while ZPEC has its own oilfield and drilling crews with abundant on site operation experience. Thus, there is great potential in deep cooperation between industry, university, and research for both sides. The ability to apply new scientific research results to practical drilling through scientific research and team building, will quickly form productive forces and economic benefits.
