From August 11th to the 26th, Qingjun Chen, President of ZPEC Group, braved the high temperature of more than 50 degrees and visited the company’s 5 Iraqi projects, 1 base, and 2 offices in Baghdad and Basra. He visited with the cadres and staff and inspected and guided the work. On behalf of the Group's Leadership Team, he expressed cordial greetings to all front-line personnel and thanked everyone for sticking to their posts during the epidemic and encouraged them to continue to carry forward the spirit of the "Iron-Blooded Journey" of ZPEC people who are not afraid of enduring hardships, making persistent efforts, overcoming difficulties, and striving to do a good job in production, operation, and material management.
Iraq is the hardest-hit area of the pandemic. In order to control its spread, the government announced the suspension of all international and domestic flights in mid-March and it did not gradually resume flights until the end of July. Since Iraq has not yet fully lifted the restrictions on Chinese entry, Mr. Chen had to rush to Iraq as soon as possible. After arriving at the airport several different times, he had to return to China because he was restricted from entering the country. Finally, he was able to enter the country smoothly after the Iraqi government issued a certificate.
Mr. Chen first rushed to ZPEC’s Rumaila Base. After a brief lunch, he convened a meeting with all the Chinese personnel. First, he introduced the overall situation of the current pandemic and encouraged everyone to seize the opportunity to gradually resume production in Iraq to fully guarantee production while taking into account the prevention and control of the virus. He praised the virus prevention and control work at Rumaila Base. Due to the interruption of flights, on-site employees have generally worked in Iraq for more than 8 months. President Chen introduced the company’s current progress in air ticket reservation and charter flights, and said the Group had everyone's strong backing and that it was mobilizing resources and arranging for everyone to return to China for vacation as soon as possible at any cost. Mr. Chen informed everyone of the Group's production and operation situation for the year and hoped that, in the face of the challenges of forced termination or suspension of some projects affected by the epidemic, everyone would increase their awareness of crisis, strengthen basic management work, and improve management. Mr. Chen analyzed the current market development situation and put forward requirements for market development in the second half of the year and next year. The meeting lasted for more than 3 hours.
Afterwards, President Chen inspected the Base Material Warehouse, learned in detail the progress of the material inventory, and affirmed everyone's previous work results. He emphasized that the Rumaila Base, as the logistics support base of the Iraqi company, plays an important role. It is necessary to continue to serve various projects and provide strong support for project production and operation. Finally, President Chen convened the heads of various departments and held a forum and listened to the reports of recent key work. Mr. Chen emphasized that the epidemic had caused repeated delays in employee shifts. Leaders of various departments must earnestly shoulder their responsibilities and always care about everyone's physical and mental health to ensure the stability of the team.
On August 15th, Mr. Chen rushed to the Petronas Project, accompanied by Project Manager Shanfeng Sun and the heads of various units, visited the employees who had been working hard during the epidemic, and affirmed the outstanding achievements in equipment maintenance during the project shutdown.
After three consecutive months of rectification and repair under the scorching sun, the equipment of Team 25, that entered Iraq in 2013, was rejuvenated as if it was just shipped from China. All of the equipment of Team 22 was also packaged in accordance with the requirements of the new project. The equipment and materials were overhauled and replaced to ensure that they would perform their best functions when they arrived at the destination. Each business department also implemented the deployment of personnel, equipment, and materials in accordance with the unified requirements of the Group. The entire Mayou Project Camp was in good order and the warehouse interior was neat and uniform.
President Chen pointed out at the symposium that the Mayou Project was a key project of the ZPEC Iraq Branch. Although Party A was the first to suspend work due to the epidemic, the cadres and employees consistently stuck to their posts and made full use of the time to maintain equipment and make improvements. He hoped that everyone would continue to carry forward the spirit of the “Iron-Blood Journey” of ZPEC and the more difficult the time was, the more the team’s combat effectiveness and cohesiveness would be shown. President Chen analyzed the current epidemic situation and market conditions in a simple way and informed them of the Group's gratifying progress in the field of exploration and development. He pointed out that the market prospects in Iraq were still broad and the branch company must continue to strengthen team management and grassroots construction. ZPEC’s "Iron-Blooded Journey" would overcome the battle and will surely be able to survive the darkness before dawn as long as they stuck to their heart.
During the epidemic, Mr. Chen went to the front line regardless of personal safety, guided production, solved problems for employees, greatly boosted the morale of the team, and strengthened the confidence of cadres and employees. We believe that with the gradual implementation of the company's strategic deployment, the "Iron-Blooded Journey" of ZPEC is bound to achieve greater glory in the post-epidemic period and usher in the spring of great development.
