Another Success for ZPEC’s Drilling Team 6 in the Sulige Oilfield
Good news came from the Sulige Oilfield in Inner Mongolia on May 20. The Su36-21-10H2 Well, drilled by Drilling Team 6, successfully completed the drilling cycle 26.3 days ahead of schedule, setting a record for both the shortest drilling cycle for deep wells and the highest daily footage record in the Sulige Block.
The Team achieved a drilling cycle of 36.7 days with a daily footage of 1,121.12 meters. The schematic and cementing qualification rate reached 100%. All economic and technical indicators were outstanding and it was highly praised with a letter of commendation awarded by Party A, CNPC XIBU Drilling Engineering General Contracting Company Sulige Project Department. The successful completion of Well Su 36-21-10H2 once again demonstrated the excellent strength of ZPEC Team 6 in the field of ultra-deep and difficult well construction, and further enhanced the ZPEC drilling brand.
Drilling began on April 14 and was completed on May 20 at a distance of 5,058 meters. The horizontal section is 1,500 meters long. Difficulties that were overcome included the easy leakage in the Liujiagou low pressure formation, the possible collapse in the Shihezi formation, and the difficulty in controlling the long borehole trajectory in the horizontal section. The long open hole section had operational problems such as different pressure coefficients and poor side-wall stability coefficients. During the construction, the company and the Sulige project leaders and technical team actively communicated and discussed with Party A, integrated the technical experience of other well sites in the block, and investigated the down-hole data. By analyzing the potential risks, a detailed production plan with technology measures was formulated. Starting from bit selection, strengthening parameters, and optimizing trajectory, one strategy for each section was strictly implemented. A technical research team was set up to implement operational measures and to monitor every aspect of the construction process.
Well Su 36-21-10H2 is located in Sumitu Sumusi Bukou Gacha, Ordos City, Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region. It is a developmental horizontal well in Block 36-11 of Suligesu, also located in Changqing Oilfield Company. It is a key risk, ultra-deep well on the Yixia Slope of the ancient Ordos Basin in Inner Mongolia.
