At 9:00pm on April 27th, Rig 23 from ZhenhuaProject successfully completed construction of the second horizontal well, EBST-4-3H.in the East Baghdad block. It overcame the COVID-19 impact, efficiently mobilized,and completed the well. More importantly, it performed excellently with a wellconstruction period of 53.83 days and 7.17 days ahead of schedule, which wasunanimously praised by the client.

The Rig 23 Drilling Team united and steadilystrove to overcoming difficulties, completing the construction of two consecutivehorizontal wells. At the beginning of drilling the second well, the projectleader called the rig and technical service personnel together for a materialspreparatory meeting. According to the epidemic situation, the materials of thiswell and the next well were organized ahead of schedule to avoid delayingproduction due to materials problems. During this period, they discovered thatthe Iraqi government had closed the road ahead of schedule due to the epidemicsituation. The 7” tailpipe cementing material did not arrive at the wellsitebefore drilling the 6 3/4" section. Thanks to the project leaders, theytried their best to seek local resources and were successful in solving theproblem.

Beforeeach operation and special operation, the project and engineering personnel helda technical briefing meeting to discuss the efficiency-enhanced plan, riskprompts, and precautions. The project director remained on the drill floor inspecial working conditions to ensure that no downhole conditions would occur.In addition to the great improvement in the construction cycle of this well,the cost management of the rig also achieved gratifying results, especially thecareful calculation of the drill bit and mud. This not only guaranteed the successful construction completion, butalso controlled the cost.
