On June 17^th, in the DWOP meeting before the drilling of ZPEC BP Project Well R691, BP Party A reviewed the cementing quality of 9.625” Rumaila Oilfield by means of chart comparison.  Since 2019, ZPEC Cementing won first place for 9.625” double-stage cementing with an average quality rate of 83%, which was highly appreciated by Party A.

Rumaila, Iraq's second largest oilfield, is a high-end market in the international oil industry. The field is home to Halliburton, Weatherford, and other internationally renowned oil service companies.  ZPEC Drilling is competing there, with both pressure and motivation. This time, by comparing with cementing indexes of Halliburton, Weatherford, and other companies, Party A exclaimed that "ZPEC is the best achiever", which was an affirmation and praise for the BP Project and the Technical Service Team of ZPEC.  Thus, demonstrating the excellent technical quality and strength of ZPEC’s “Iron Army” Drilling Team.

The biggest difficulty in drilling and cementing in Rumaila Oilfield lies in the fact that  second consecutive drilling encounters complicated formations such as low-pressure leakage layers and low-pressure sulfur-bearing water layers.  These pose a high risk of drilling loss, a low success rate of plugging, and a high requirement for interlayer cementing. The cementing difficulty is much higher than that of reservoir cementing. Therefore, Party A pays special attention to the cementing quality of the second drilling.

Since 2019, through continuous understanding of the formation information of this oilfield, under the unified deployment of Fu Jiancheng, Manager of BP Project Department, and Drilling Director Tang Guo-wei, special meetings have been organized for the drilling team, cementing, mud, and other departments to discuss and optimize the 9.625” double-stage cementing construction scheme. With the support of various units, the cementing team constantly optimizes the cement slurry formulation, pre-liquid system, tool accessory selection and construction parameters, and implements and formulates every measure with high standards and strict requirements. During the construction period, all departments worked together to ensure the safe and efficient construction of the 9.625” double-stage cementing.
