Recently, in the absence of the adjacent well’s geological data and under complex formation changes, ZPEC Logging Team 25 accurately carded the Salman-1 Well.  BASHNEFT highly praised the difficult logging effort of the well, a 13-3/8" casing under deep point. 

Salman-1 is the first prospecting well in the Iraqi and Saudi Arabian border regions.  The formation in that area is marine continental shelf, a complex geological structure with great changes in lateral formations.  There are few wells in the area with the closest well being 30 kilometers away.  Most of those wells were drilled in the 1960’s and, with the lack of information, it is very difficult to analyze the formation.  ZPEC geologists, in such difficult circumstances, carried out a careful study and analysis, and created 2 well logging sections, making a regional stratigraphic trend chart.  In the process of logging, everybody, through various means, effectively ensured the accuracy of naming the cuttings, while improving the stratigraphic correlation at the same time.  The effort not only provided the correct upper formation interface, but also accurately determined the under deep point for the 13-3/8" casing.  Thus, a solid foundation was created for safely lower drilling work.
