At 2:30pm on April 15, the year-to-date accumulated drilling footage of ZPEC No. 8 Team reached 10,000 meters.  ZPEC No. 8 Team was the first ZPEC team to reach that depth, and the first among the other 64 drilling teams working in Changqing Oilfield No.7 Oil Recovery Plant.
   
Since first spudding on March 3, 2011, ZPEC No. 8 Team took only 42 days to reach 10,000 meters, which was 20 days ahead of last year’s pace.  This was attributed to several factors: carrying out its “Safety and Benefit Year” guidelines, trying every means to save cost and ensure safety by successfully removing the risks and avoiding serious accidents, which could have potentially occurred twice.  They also set a single well record with 2,817 meters drilled at one time.
