The New Year started with good news, as ZPEC No.14 Team took only 42 days to complete the HH92P5 horizontal well, which was 15 days ahead of the designed drilling period. HH92P5 well, located in Zhenjing Block, Gansu Province, is a pilot hole horizontal well with a depth of 4,583 meters and horizontal length of 1,000 meters. The client, SINOPEC Northwest Petroleum Bureau, was quite satisfied and praised the Team’s work.

This project marked the first time that ZPEC Drilling Company attempted the PDC drill bit directional method, and it only took 138.5 hours to finish the 35 degree kick off section, drilling at a rate of 6.53m/h. Additionally, it only took ZPEC No.14 Team 60 hours to finish the 1,000 meter horizontal section, drilling at 16.7m/h.

The success of the HH92P5 pilot hole not only brought a joyful end to 2012, but also provided great encouragement for the coming year.
